Re: What's the difference? Nuchal Translucency vs. Level II Sono
The Nuchal is part of the overall test called an "ultrascreen". It is done towards the end of the first trimester and check for Downs (they also take blood to give you a total result). It is a sono that check the fold behind the babys neck (thick folds could be a sign of Downs). Keep in mind the results of the test are a probability not a "yes" or "no" which can be very frustrating.
The level II is done between 18-22 weeks usually and it an indepth look at the baby's anatomy. This is usually when they can also tell you the baby's sex with a fair degree of certainty.

Thank you so much for the info!! My doc gave me a referral to Madonna to have the Nuchal done, as I have family history of retardation. My appt with my OB isn't until next Monday and I didn't want to wait that long to ask him the question!!
