Whats the right way to say it?

How do you tell people how far along you are in months? If you are at the beginning of the 4th month, do you say "I'm four months pregnant" or do you say "I'm three months pregnant?" because you really havent made it through the fourth month yet?

I have been talking in weeks so far, but people keep asking "How many months are you" and I am confused! (Today would be the 1st day of my fourth month, so thats why I'm asking!) My grandmother said that no one went by weeks when she went through her pregnancies (which was about 50-60 years ago) and apparently I'm confusing her!

It's technically 3 out of 9 / 4 out of 10, right?

I usually use the one "out of 9" - so if I were starting my fourth month I'd say 3 months...because you are 13 weeks - which is 3 full months, just starting your 4th (if that made any sense at all!!!).

I have been thinking about the same thing. I just told people at work and when they asked how far along, I wasn't quite sure what to say. I said, "I'm in my fourth month." Technically, it's true, and it makes me feel better to insinuate I'm further along to account for any extra poundage they may be noticing.

If its the beginning of the month I usually say "going into my 8th month"

IMO - You can say whatever makes you more comfortable. Nobody is going to pull out a calendar when you tell them - they just want a general idea.

I always said that "I'm starting my .... month"

I am almost 16 weeks, so when people ask me how far along I am, I say "almost 4 months"
