Also for some reason whenever we watch signs, I make my DH come to the bathroom with me. I am so afraid of my shower curtainChat Icon

Exorcist is still one of the scariest movies I've ever seen... I still don't like to watch it by myself even though I know exactly what is going to happen Chat Icon

The Excorist

Anything that mixes religion and scariness really scares the hell out of me.

I haven't seen many because I am so squeamish, but The Ring and The Exorcist both creeped me out mightily.

Didn't think Signs were scary, but that one scene when they look out the window and you see the alien run across the street, made me JUMP like I've never jumped before! Still makes my hair stand thinking about it now. Chat Icon

The Shining.

I hate scary movies, but one of my friends FORCED me to watch the Shining when I was in High School and I STILL get freaked out by it.

OMG, I was 12 when I first saw that movie. Was terrified to babysit after that!

The Shining, the original Salems Lot (floating boy out the window, makes me soooooooooo creeped out), and the original Halloween (can't even hear the music to that movie!)

I never thought the Excorsist was scary. There was only one part of that movie that freaked me out a bit and that was when she comes backwards down the stairs.

Re: What's the SCARIEST movie ever?

Maybe I've become too used to scary movies , that none really stick out as being too scary. When I first saw "Nightmare on Elm Street" I couldn't sleep, but now I just kinda laugh at all those slasher movies. I guess "The Ring" was the last one that kinda freaked me out.
That's what gets me now is "freaky" things in movies. So I guess on the freaky scale "Freaks" is still pretty disturbing.

That one started off good, but it kinda died for me at the end. I was pretty freaked out at the beginning, but then it just took that whole courtroom tangent and my fear was gone.

I know it's an oldie, but I still think it's Psycho for me. That shower scene gets me every time.

I think 2nd place is the Shining.

The Ring.

Exorcism isn't scary to me at all. In college I had to do a 20 page paper on it & watch it over & over again.

eta DH still thinks Jaws & the Exorcism are scary. He has to hold the remote to watch them so he can flip the channel for safety.

I agree - I thought it was going to be SOOOO much scarier... but honestly outside of a few creepy moments at first, it was more of a courtroom/legal movie than anything truly scary Chat Icon I was really disappointed (and I'm normally a scaredy cat!)

The Shining for sure and second runner up would have to be The Thing.

Re: What's the SCARIEST movie ever?

Saw really freaked me out, but not so much in a scary way, as in a tension-filled gory way... Just watched the second one last night and was soooo disappointed....

The Ring
Children of the Corn - I've never actually *seen* this movie, but I remember watching the first few minutes at a friend's sleepover as a kid and we had to turn it off because we were scared.
The Shining, definitely!

Anything psychological is scarier to me than just gore - like Seven!!!!!

Funny thing is, that is the ONLY movie ever to scare me. I actually enjoyed the Linda Blair Excorcist movies.
