whats the word?
Lets say - when a young student is redirected to task, they become "mopey" and put their head on the desk, sad that they have been chastised.
What is a professional way to describe this? The student becomes_____
not frustrated.....
what word am I looking for?

You could say they "shut down." That's what we say when we see that behavior...
