What's with people who don't recycle?
Why would anyone choose to NOT recycle? It irks me so much! DH has a friend with 3 kids and whenever we go to their house they serve bottles of water / cans of soda and they throw the empties in the garbage! Same for wine and beer bottles. It REALLY bothers me! I've actually put empty bottles into my purse to take home to recycle!
I understand if people don't want to do the bottle return, but how hard is it to throw the empties in your recycle bin and put them on the curb for pick up? It boggles my mind.
The reason I've put this here is because they have 3 kids! Yet, they don't seem to care about what the state of the world will be in when these kids are grown or for future generations. It makes no sense to me!!! Why have kids if you don't want to ensure their future???
Any thoughts? Thanks for letting me vent!

They are just bad people. We actually have more recycling than trash in our household and save stuff for recycling day even though it is every two weeks for us.

Some people just are so self absorbed that they cannot think of anything else other than what they deem immediately important in their world. I know people like this and it drives me insane too.

I think that if your town offers recycling and you dont do it, you should be fined. its OUR plant nots YOURS....treat it as so. 
I wish my town did all types of recycling every week like Town of Brookhaven does. W would have less regular trash then

This. Not to say there aren't CF'ers who also don't recycle, but I agree with OP about how they don't care about what the planet will be left for their kids; look at the garbage found floating in the Indian Ocean they thought was that plane. It's sick.

I'm in NYC and even though I live in a building, yes there are fines for not recycling. Bet your azz these people would start recycling with the first summons.

I'm a self professed tree hugger, and I too bring things home to recycle. From lots of places. I also try to reuse everything I can and make as little waste as possible. Drives dh to distraction.
Have you seen "No Impact Man"? It really made me think. And probably obsess.
