What's wrong with the water? (map)
I was looking up something in the city when I noticed the pond in Central Park was all white:
Google Central Park satellite map
I thought it must have been ice but there are leaves on the trees, boats in the water, people sunbathing on the lawns, and if you zoom in, they look like pieces of something.
I'm baffled. What is that?

If you switch to map view, it's called "The Lake", and there are boats in the water.
I don't think it's a reflection of the sun, because there are portions where there is no white by the shores. It almost looks like styrofoam or something.

It is definitely The Lake. Wollman Rink is in the Southeast corner of the park.
Why it looks white? Who knows.

Hmmm - very strange indeed!
I think it's too irregularly shaped to be the skating rink, like someone else had said.

The white areas show up in the shade of the trees too.
I wonder if it's some weird form of algae.

I don't think it's algae, only because it's not evenly spread amongst the entire lake. If you look at the section of the lake further East, there is no 'algae' in that whole area.
It could just be a weird camera effect or something else.

I'm pretty sure there's nothing wrong with the water. I bet it's a weird camera effect since the pic is taken from so far away.
It looks really strange, though - almost like there's a giant storm and tons of waves in the water!

It is algae. It's called duckweed, and it flowers white, and then turns green:
This is from the Central Park conservancy about the algae: What's with the water?
In the first picture, you can see Bow Bridge in the background.
I guess that's why the boaters stop at Bow Bridge. Who wants to row through algae?
