What's wrong with this picture?
To refresh - we got a new dryer this past Friday. The old one didn't dry. It got warm, but not hot enough to dry clothes.
Now, the new dryer is not drying either. I have been trying to dry the same load of towels since last night. After 3 cycles of 80 minutes and 2 cycles of "auto dry", guess what I have in my dryer???? Yup, wet towels.
What gives???
Thoughts????
(I'm praying for my sanity)

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
Did you check all the settings? Are they on high and not delicate or fluff? Do you have a gas or electric dryer?

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
It's a gas dryer. I've never had a gas dryer before.
The settings are "regular", "medium", and "fluff"
It's set to regular.

We have gas also. Is the gas line hooked up correctly?

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
I think it's hooked up correctly - the guy who installed it on Friday checked to make sure it was working. It gets warm, like the other one, but not really all that hot.

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
Besides the reg, medium & fluff cycles are there any other settings like "less dry", "more dry" "delicates"?
Is it a brand new dryer?

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
I'm thinking it's one of 2 things....
gas hook-up, or the gas line leading to the hook-up (I'd sniff the wall outside of the laundry room for a faint gas smell )
OR
it could be some insert blocking your lint trap or your vent to the outside...... the dryer would have to work REALLY hard if it can't efficiently vent the humid hot air outside.
alternatively, could it be your washer not spinning well enough? Sometimes, especially with towels (that retain a lot of water) you may not realize how wet your items are when you put them in the dryer. I've noticed that problem with my mom's washer, where only the items at the very bottom of the washer seem 'wetter than usual', but the whole load takes an extra 50% of the time to dry good luck!

I haven't a clue what could be wrong, but I can only imagine how frustrated you are! Could you call the store where you bought the dryer and get someone to come look at it? It must be under warrenty still. good luck!

It is a brand new dryer. There are those additional settings, in addition to the timed dry.
I have tried them all.

There is no smell of gas, the dryer is brand new and nothing blocking the lint trap. The installers put in a new hose and vent.
The clothes don't seem wetter than normal - it did dry other items of clothing fine after 2 cycles, though.

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
I would definitely call the service department. Have them come out and recheck the gas hook up. If that's not the answer I would see if they could replace the dryer with a new one. Good Luck!

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
I'm definitely going to call tomorrow -I am just super frustrated right now because if it is indeed the gas line, we didn't have to buy a new dryer for $500.

Check the pilot light on the gas dryer. If it is out, then you won't get any heat.

It does got heat - just not enough to dry in a reasonable amount of time. It shouldn't take 5 cycles to dry a load of 5 towels.

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
Hmmm, we have an electric dryer and found our problem was the actual electical outlet it was connected to had it's polarity reversed, therefore it wasn't getting enough "juice" (electric). I have no idea about yours since its gas

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
Did you make sure the line isn't clogged?? If it isn't venting out of the house then that would cause wet clothes. Just an idea??

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
do yu have a vent leading out of the dryer for exhaust/dust or such? If so, did you check that line and make sure it was all clear? This is probably not it, just trying to think of something not listed that may help

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
I fkund our gas dryer dried our stuff hotter than the electric one....check your settings and clean out the lint trap. I found that we have to clean the lint trap after each dry, or else the dryer doenst get hot enough to dry.

Re: What's wrong with this picture?
We had the same thing happen to our gas dryer and we made sure all the lint was out of the dryer (the area with the screen). We even vacuumed out that area with that thin attached that comes with your vacuum. Then we made sure the vent tube that goes outside was cleaned out to and then we also cleaned off the outside of the vent tube on the outside of the house. I hope that all makes sense. GL! If all that doesn't work, I would call the service guy back to fix it.

The dryer was installed last Friday and they put in a new vent line from the dryer to the outside. I am sooooo frustrated with this situation.
Thanks for the suggestions, ladies.
