What's your favorite sunscreen for DC? (Mine is 8.5 mos old)
Just curious - was at Target today and was clueless with all the options....Neutrogena Baby, Aveeno Baby (they had a new one that looked nice)...Coppertone Baby....spray or not to spray? I saw Johnson & Johnson even has a nice Baby SPF 50 one...there are so many options.
FYI - I HATE the feeling of greasy lotions...so I need one that is non-greasy. I am really picky about what sunscreen I use on myself b/c I hate feeling greasy - so I obv. want a nice one since I'll be rubbing it all over DD.
We are going on vacation next month.

check out the environmental working group's site and the safemama blog. we use California Baby.

I have used California Baby in the past but I prefer Blue Lizard.
I will use either one if I cannot find one or the other.

We also use California Baby. I usually use the sunstick on his face and the lotion on the rest of him.

Banana Boat Baby SPF 15.
The one in the tube (the one in the spray isn't as water resistant and greasier, although easier to rub in). It's highly water resistant, thick - you have to really rub it in, not very greasy, and best of all, it doesn't sting babies eyes. Coppertone Water Babies stings the eyes when they rub them.

We tried Aveeno, Nuetrogena, California Baby and Coppertone Baby.
The only one that didn't give him a rash or irritate his skin was Coppertone Baby (same as his momma  ).
I used the lotion for his whole body, and used he spray can to get his hair/head. And then he wore a hat. I was overly cautious about his head.

My ped only recommends coopertone baby as it has the best UVA and UVB protection. That is the only sunscreen we will use.

Avon has a bug spray/sunblock combo - in a spray.
FYI - if DS is very fair, I know someone who puts chapstick on her DSs eyelids so they don't burn - it doesn't run.

good to know and we are seeing our ped before our vaca so I will definitely ask for her recommendation as well....but thanks for this. Great to know.

ooh thanks - my DD has sensitive skin - she got a rash from some lotion i put on her once. So I am glad to hear this and will get the Coppertone Baby...thanks so much. Great idea for the spray for the head. Thanks again!!! I have to be SO careful of her skin so she doesn't end up like her mama...I see a dermatologist every 3 months and get several moles biopsied each time...not fun.

I have used all the "safe" sunscreens, but because DS has such bad excema they bothered his skin terribly and the allergist told me to use neutrogena baby. He said in order for them to not use the chemicals in things like california baby they use other ingredients that can irritate my son's skin, so while I would rather use the "safe" sunscreens I am stuck with neutrogena
