Both of my kiddos never took a pacifer but I have a friend whose daughter was obsessed with them so on her 2nd birthday they told her that big girls don't use pacis and they tied them to balloons and up in the sky they went. It was really cute and she was all excited that she was a big girl!

I'm starting at 6 mos. to only use them for sleeping and car rides. Hoping to only use them for sleeping soon, then by 1 year not at all. That's the plan though, we'll see how it goes!

DD stopped on her own around 2 months. She'll suck her thumb once in a while, but not all the time.

DD uses it mostly for bed time, but sometimes she will pick her one up out of the chair and put it in her mouth. It could help her with her teething though at this point b/c her two top teeth are coming in. I'm not worried about it yet. She is a year old.

DD stopped on her own at 5mths. Although there are times now when I'm the human pacifier so that's something else I'm going to have to wean her off.

I dont' have any plans in stopping any time soon. Steven is a little over 5 months. He only uses it for naps and bed time. So, I'm not too worried. If he spits it out, I don't offer it back to him. I don't offer it during the day except for naps (he gets fussy right before he falls asleep and this helps him deal with that), and when he is falling asleep if it falls out, I don't put it back in.

DS is one and only uses it for sleeping, I have no plans on stopping that just yet

DD is 6 months and uses it for naps and sleeping mostly, but sometimes during the day when she's fussy. I don't plan on stopping for a while - when she's ready I'll stop.

DD only used for naps and nighttime.

We took it away cold turkey at 9 months old. She had a bad couple 1st days, but Hasn't missed it at all.

19 months and no plans of taking it away from her. She'll give it up when she's ready.

Bella ONLY uses it at naps and night now. We eliminated all use in the car relatively easily and she never really used it in public...

now for weaning completely
I am thinking 2...so I can fully explain what the deal is.

We only really used it for soothing before naps and at night. Now that she has found her fingers (3 months) she hardly needs it and when she does have it, it is often replace by her fingers.

we weaned to naps and bedtime at 7 or 8 months. The at about 16-18 months we stopped that cold turkey.

He found one shortly after that and looked confused - he put it in his mouth and then just took it out and tossed it aside - like he never used one!

Ryan is 15 months now and only takes his binky at bedtime at night. He probably doesn't even really need it anymore since sometimes we forget and he doesn't miss it. But we stopped giving it to him during the day when he turned 1 year old. I plan to get rid of it soon since he isn't really that attached to it and doesn't NEED it to sleep.

About 15 months old. I took it away cold turkey. Not a fun 3 days but then it was done

Mikayla has not taken to the binky at all so I do nto force it on her....when I offer it to her, she sucks on it for like 2 seconds and then spits it out....

DS only used them to sleep til about a 1 year.
One day I just decided not to give it to him or retrieve them from the "binky graveyard" (under the bed) and he didn't even miss it!

Now I realize, he probably could have stopped sooner.

they pretty much stopped on their own, since they discovered their hands.. It is a rare occasion when they take it.
