When BM isn't there at drop-off?
Has anyone had the problem where you go to take back a SK to the BM's house at the appropriate time and she just isn't there? And then when you call her she expects you to just drive around in circles waiting for her?

Re: When BM isn't there at drop-off?
We don't pick-up/drop-off at BMs house or at our own. Instead we meet at a designated spot about mid-way between both homes. If she's running late she'll call to let us know, and we do the same. It's rare but if it's going to be a while we're already "out" so we'll find something to do. We know she wouldn't intentionally be late so while it might be aggravating, we really can't be mad at her.

we used to meet BM halfway and 9 times out of 10 she was late and expect us to just sit and wait. At one point we did pick up SD and drop her off at her home and most times BM was not home, however, an older sibling or "sitter" was there in the house to receive her.

When we used to have SD on a regular basis this happened ALL the time SD's older sister and her father would be waiting with us in the driveway because she was dropped off at the same time...very inconsiderate !

We had full custody so she would have to come and pick him up and drop him off. She was always early picking him up and always late dropping him off.
Maybe try calling her right before you drop him off to make sure she is going to be home, if she doesn't answer then don't leave your house until she calls you back.

She's lied before.
This past drop off, after waiting for 30 minutes, she finally admitted that she was "in traffic" but refused to tell us where she actually was (what kind of traffic she was stuck in on a Sunday night at 9pm we don't know, but we assume it is the kind of traffic you get stuck in when you are caught in the middle of a lie). We finally told her that we couldn't just keep a 5 year old sleeping in a car so we were taking him home to sleep in a bed. She eventaully got home an hour and a half after we first got to her house!

Re: When BM isn't there at drop-off?
when we had ncp rights, she was always late - one time we drove 2 hours from our house to hers to find that she was in south florida for the weekend...she came to pick him up from our house at midnight that night - after we turned back around and wasted time, gas and energy.
another time we had to keep him an extra day for her to pick him up at 5 in the morning on a school day so that she could stay in miami for an extra night.
unfortunately none of this is new to us. thankfully, we have temp custody now so no more of that b.s. going on :)

Did you have to bring SS back to her house after she got home? I hope not. I hope you kept him for the night and made her come pick him up the next day. She doesn't like it, have her take DH to court. Revise the plan and put specific times in. That's BS and she's getting away with it b/c like all BM's she can!

Yeah, we took him to our place so he could sleep in a bed. We returned him at 8am the next morning, which is the time we usually return him on a morning where he doesn't have school (usually it has to be earlier so he can make the bus).
