DS is 9mo and on some table foods. His next ped appt isnt until 10/17 and I don't want to call for this...

When can I start him on cheese and what types are ok? Can he have american and mozzarella? I wouldn't give him anything sharp like cheddar.

TIA!

I started cheese at 10 months

She LOOOOVES mozzarella, or parmiggiano on her pasta! or ricotta on bread!

Just be careful that it is pasteurized (ask if you get fresh mozzarella or ricotta)

I have been giving her all types of cheese since she was like 9 months but for some reason I don't give her mozzarella...I just think that she is going to choke on it or something. I don't know..it's all in my head.

i believe all types are just fine. i just sprinkled some on DD's ground beef/broccoli. I have the part skin shredded kind. I only used a sprinkle. I believe full-fat American is probably best but I don't have any! She is 8.5 months.

My DD was 6 months when I started giving her cheese. She ate basically everything.........mozzarella, swiss, cheddar, american. She loved all of it! Chat Icon

DD#1 had dairy issues so we waited until after a year.

DD#2 was slow with table foods so she prob didn't have cheese until 9/10 months. We gave her everything then.
