when can they have water?
When can babies get water? And why would I give it to him? My mom thinks that drinking water from his bottle may help him nap/fall into a deeper sleep.

Re: when can they have water?
my ped said we can give water from the start... we only give Sydney an ounce or 2 here and there. I dont know about it helping the baby sleep... I think sometimes babies are just thirsty and not hungry. You just want to make sure it isnt getting in the way of the babies feeding. every ped is different though so you are going to get many different opinions on this.

My ped did not want me to give DS water but when he turned 6 months old we were able to start juice which he loves.

Re: when can they have water?
Before her 9 month appt, we only gave water to deal with constipation issues. An ounce extra water in her bottle, 1oz pear to 1 ounce water so she can go to bathroom.
Otherwise, we only give her water in her sippy to get her used to drinking from it.

My Dr. said it was ok after his 4 month check up. I give him 1-2 ounces a day when he is constipated. I also gave it to him when we were on the beach in Florida on the hot days.

same here. also i don't think they need water until they start teething, cause the water has flouride which is needed for the teeth growth.

Same here. If Luca is having issues with his belly, it may help. I know that it would help Steven when he was very gassy from the Similac, before we switched. Now, he likes it once in a while to help him when he's thirsty but not hungry.

He doesn't have stomach issues. My mom just thought that since he won't take a paci anymore that sucking a bottle of water may help him fall asleep.

I don't know. You don't want to fill his belly with water if you don't have to. It's definately worth a try and can't harm him, but be sure that it doesn't interfere with his meals and don't let him drink more than 2 oz.
Have you tried to introduce his hand? Sometimes Steven will pass up the paci for his hand.
