When can they tell you that you are having twins?
Hi all,
I am not pregnant yet, but I was curious how far along you have to be before they can tell you are having twins?

I took a HPT and found out I was preggo at 4 weeks... at my first appt (6 weeks) I found out there were two heartbeats!!

We did IVF (tranfered three embryos hoping for twins) and pretty much knew when the doctor call 19 days past ovulation with a Beta score of 631. That is a very high score for that day and out of the range (I think the top singleton number was 500 something) for singleton birth so I had a good idea.
A week later I went to my RE and saw teeny, tiny, blinking dots (basically the size of the ball point on a pen). She told me those blinking dots were the two heartbeats. and you could see the tiny sacs.
Here are pics of the zygotes and then the boo-boos at 7.5 weeks. This is about three weeks after the first sonogram so you can imagine how tiny they were then. Image Attachment(s):

7 weeks, at 6 weeks when they did a sonogram, they only saw one with a shadow and what they thought was a VERY strong heartbeat, to our surprise it was not one strong heartbeat but 2, one was hiding the other.

I knew I was pregnant before I got the possitive HPT.
At about 5 weeks I was in the hospital dehydrated & they did a sono & told me they were twins.
