when can you stop burping a baby?

I was just wondering when you ladies stopped burping your babies.

I hate it, hate it. It makes me nervous that DS won't burp. When he does i'm always relieved but I always get this anxious feeling, when I have to feed and burp him.

I was thinking the same thing myself. DS is alsmot 15 months and we still do it, especailly before bedtime Not vigorously, like you would do a 4 month sold, but just to help things along a little!

I don't know how long you're supposed to continue burping for, but try not to stress out so much over whether or not the baby burps. Sometimes they just don't need to burp. If the baby doesn't burp within a couple of minutes he's probably not going to. I don't spend a lot of time burping, if it comes out it comes out and if not then he probably just didn't swallow that much air to make a burp. If you're really worried about it maybe just try to keep him upright for a little while after feeding so if there is a burp in there somewhere it will come up easier on its own. If the air doesn't come out through a burp it will make its way out through gas. Is your baby really gassy? Keep in mind all babies have some gas. DS is passing some right now! As long as he doesn't seem like he's always in pain from having tons of gas everything is just fine!

Yeah My baby is the same way. She barely ever burps... she will eventually burp on her own or let us know she needs to still. But if u really think that ur baby needs to burp and doesnt after burping them for a while, just sit them up on ur leg facing ur stomach and from siting up like that they'll eventually burp. honestly, i dont think its a big deal. Dont stress over the little stuff.

I stopped burping Jared a long time ago. He would sit up after drinking his bottle and burp on his own around 8-9 months.

Jacob is 6 months old and when i feed him and sit him up, he burps on his own. I dont have to do it anymore. Sometimes i give a pat or two right before bed but other than that i dont do it all. I think i stopped doing it religiously around 4 months with him.

I stress a little over this sometimes, like when she's fussy, but if she doesn't burp after like a minute, I know she's just not ready. But she has a specific little grunt she makes after I'm done feeding her that I totally know means, "Uh, Mom, pick me up and pat this burp out!" Just try letting go for one feeding and see what happens.

We stopped when they sat up on their own, around 6 months.

Jack started holding his bottle by 5 months so I really stopped burping him. If I fed him I would sit him up and he would burp or if he was in his bouncy he would burp himself.

The doctor said if they don't burp after 2-3 minutes then they probably don't have to. But sometimes it takes him longer than 2-3 to burp. I just really want to stop burping I hate it when I have to do it. It makes me so anxious all the time! I'm worried about him having gas pains cuz we think he does already, cuz we've been giving him mylicon drops. We did it cuz last week he cried for two nights for hours and we think it was gas pains.

you can stop when they can sit up on their own.

My daughter is 4 months and often times she is starting to burp on her own - a wonderful thing i tell you!!
