When did people start offering their seats to you?

Totally unexpected thing happened today. I was riding on the train and a guy offered me his seat. I guess it's becoming more obvious that I'm pregnant. Hehe... I'm 24 weeks and 2 days.

When did people start offering you their seats?

i'd say from 20 wks on...i have a hard time wearing extremely loose clothes so i guess the bloat is more noticeable on me! it's very courteous, i'm always very humbled when they offer their seats to me!

Re: When did people start offering their seats to you?

A few times I went to my OB and there were no seats. One guy got up and offered his seat to me. I think I was only a few months PG then.

It's nice when it happens. Chat Icon

Errr, never.

I took the express bus from Staten Island to Midtown everyday until 36 weeks and if I didn't get a seat I was SOL!

Never Chat Icon

I leave extra early to try and get a seat, especially now when the little bastids are back to school (that's what I call the high school kids). There were a few mornings that I couldn't get the early bus and the bus would be crowded and no one would give me their seat, even a person that I know and work with wouldn't give me their seat. I was a big girl to begin with, but it is very noticable that I'm pregnant. I just say to myself that they can all go straight to he!!

I used to see that all the time on the LIRR, it made me sick! Men would all of a sudden be entranced by their newspapers......

I heard about this too. Men are in particular oblivious or just plain ignorant to what we pregnant ladies go through. Especially the ones who aren't dads!

I've been really luck since early on and have been offered seats almost all the time. When I haven't been it REALLY annoys me. Not so much that people won't get up but that they sit and STARE at my big belly. Chat Icon

I haven't had this happen yet.
And I still get pushed aside when trying to get on the train.

Re: When did people start offering their seats to you?

when I was in london (at about 27 weeks). prior to that, they'd just let me stand Chat Icon

when I returned home (up over 24 hours at that point!) 2 weeks later (29 weeks), the slobs on the LIRR DID let me just stand, and then stared at me as I created a minor scene and stumbled over my luggage in exhaustion to a seat with a bag on it and asked the owner to move it so I could sit down.

didn't exactly give me a warm fuzzy feeling about coming home to good ol' LI.

Re: When did people start offering their seats to you?

People started to offer about 1 1/2 weeks ago (I am now almost 26 weeks) most of the time people would just pretend to be asleep and not see me but lately when I get on the train someone immediately offers me a seat. I guess I'm so big that people feel sorry for me Chat Icon

Re: When did people start offering their seats to you?

I never had to deal with seats, but I constantly have people either not holding doors open for me, or walking through them, looking at me, then letting them close. Chat Icon

Oh, and I say something sarcastic too when they let the door slam. They should be ashamed of themselves.
