When did you get rid of the crib bumpers?

My son is just about 15 months and his crib bumpers are destroyed! He stands on them and pulls at them and has ripped most of the ties off! I keep repairing them and have wondered if I should just ditch them. Any thoughts?

My DS is a liitle over 10 mos and we took it off last week. He was using it as a spring board to try and jump out of the crib, ughhhh

I think the rule of thumb is to take them out when the baby uses them as leverage to get out of the crib and they become a danger.

DD is 12 months and I just got a new set of them. We'll keep them for a while. She is such a tumbler that I think she'd look like she got beaten up in the morning if we didn't have bumpers.

I did it at about 12 months or so. Sometimes I wish I kept them longer but I thought for sure she would be climbing out of the crib by now and to my suprise she hasn't. Sometimes I feel bad cause I hear her bang a foot or even her head on the crib. So I try to put her blankets around the edge.
