Re: When did you start looking into nursery schools?

Talia turned one in sept. so I started looking then for the next year (I am sending her at 2). But it really all depends on how competitive it is in your area, when the school regisitration is, and when you want to send her.

Re: When did you start looking into nursery schools?

There's a school near me that you have to call from your hospital room after giving birth to put them on the list. I'm exaggerating but not by much. But for the school my son goes to, I signed him up in January and he started in September. I just signed my DD up for this coming Sept. Alot of them are like that. I'd ask someone in your area - maybe she was talking about a specific school?

We're the same as Elizabeth - we just signed Jesse up a couple days ago to start in September.

I think it depends how exclusive the school is - then you might need a waiting list.

She seemed to think that all the nursery schools in my area had this huge wait list, but I don't know... I am in N. Massapequa... I will start making a few calls and see, thanks ladies.

Re: When did you start looking into nursery schools?

We're lucky, because DH's aunt's mother owns a nursery school, so we won't have an issue with getting in one. We're debating whether to start this year (when Christopher is 2) or next year when he's 3 and (hopefully) potty-trained. Not sure what the going rate is, but unfortunately this particular one is a little pricey...

That could be true. There's some really great school in Massapequa that has a 3 year waiting list. I want to say Grace?

My friend and her sister who live in Massapequa send their kids to Our Redemer and are really happy.

Cheryl? Did we go to the same HS?! We keep running into each otherChat Icon Chat Icon

I'm south of you, but I signed Emily up for school near me at 3 mths oldChat Icon Insane, but that's what I was told when we moved here.

Fast forward to last Fall, I wasn't happy with the school for their lack of communication so I looked elsewhere and found a program I liked better locally as well.

This school did not have any long waiting list, but it's a bit more expensive, maybe that's why. They can really range in cost too - anywhere from $100-$200+ just for 2 AMs a week.

Best thing is do research your neighborhood and get in touch with the programs near you to see how they are.

ETA - it's the Reformed Church of Mass with the ridiculous waiting list - Grace doesn't have one.

Re: When did you start looking into nursery schools?

Registration is usually in Jan or Feb. (for the following school year), so if your looking to put your child into school for next September, start looking at schools NOW (it might even be too late) and register.
