When did you stop swaddling your newborn and how did they sleep on their backs?
Gregory is fighting his swaddle more and more and while I love the miracle blanket...he really doesn't. I'd like to keep it up a while longer but that might not be the case.
When did you stop swaddling and how did they sleep? Were their arms a problem waking them? Did you cover their hands?
Thanks!

Re: When did you stop swaddling your newborn and how did they sleep on their backs?
Michael did not like to be swaddled but he slept like an angel in it so he had no say I swaddled him until I think he was 3 months and he finally busted out of it two nights in a row and so I gave it a rest. By that point he was used to sleeping through the night and had no problem sleeping without being swaddled although I did have him in the sleeping sack. I was so scared when he busted out of that swaddle, that he would stop sleeping through the night but luckily, I think he just learned how to STTN on his own at that point.
ETA: IMO I would not give up the swaddling...swaddle him for as long as you can, until he busts out of it on his own. When they are so little, their little newborn reflexes wake them up throughout the night, thats why when they're swaddled it keeps their hands away from their face. And I believe that at the end of the day swaddling teaches them to STTN. Thats just my opinion from my own personal experience.

Sienna doesn't mind the swaddle, but she will break her arms out. I've put her down without it and once she is out, she is out unless she is hungry. I would give it a shot! I also put mittens on her hands, although not so much lately.

I never swaddled either girl with arms in....just around their torso. I stopped both about 8 weeks and never had a problem with them waking themselves up.

At 3 months my DS was wiggling out and he is a thumb sucker so he would always get his arms free. I switched to the sleep sack and I had no problems.
