Depends on your baby. We didn't switch til DS was 11 months

I didnt switch DS until 11 months - it was just easier because i take him to and from the babysitter and he falls asleep on the way home

ETA: the infant carrier we have goes up to 30lbs or 30 inches; whichever comes 1st
DS is about 23 pounds and 29 inches

My DH and I will probably switch around 4-5 months.

My mom already puts him in her convertible car seat since he was too heavy in the infant carrier for her. He weighed 17 lbs at his 3 month appt.! (He's 3.5 months now).

7 months. Wanted to wait as long as possible. The infant seat was sooo convenient!!!

We switched when they were 10 months. They could still fit in them now at 11.5 months, but we felt it was time at 10 months.

My DS is 8 months and I would like to keep in the infant carrier forever....I feel it is convenient- when he falls asleep I just take the whole carrier and he stays peaceful.

In reality, I need to put him in the carseat because he is getting long.

But i hate how children's head hangs when they fall asleep

For the infant seat that has a 22 ppound rating, most children outgrow the seat at around 7 to 8 months on average.

The newer infant carriers can go to from 32 to 35 pounds. But most parents stop using those around 10 to 12 months because of the weight of the child and the seat. Not that the child outgrew the seat.

No matter what, once a child is changed to a converable seat rear facing, they should remain rear facing up to 2 years old.

Please remember development od a child is not based on weight but age. The muscular development of a child makes rear facing to 2 years the best and safest option.

The convertible went from 5lbs to 70lbs so why not.

I personally waited until weather got nicer but that was it. Once it did she was outta that infant seat.

She fit fine, but I wanted something for long term and I came across a deal I couldnt pass up so it motiviated me to move her up.

I dont regret it at all and frankly don't miss the carrier either.

i am switching this week my son is 4months but way to long for it he is around 29inches because the straps to fit his shoulders anymore.

3 1/2 months for DD (she HATED the infant carrier) screamed her head off everytime she went in it.

5 months with DS

That's when we moved DS. Chunky was nearing the weight limit (he was about 19 pounds at 6 months) & I was in an accident so the seat was replaced by the other driver's insuarnce company anyway. DD made it to about 10 months I think.

22months in a graco safeseat 1.

We used it as a backup seat left installed in our sitter's car.

She still fits in it, but the car was in an accident and the seat is no longer usable, otherwise she would be in it for at least another 6 months or so. But my child is not the norm.

There is no need to rush out to get a convertible seat if the baby still fits in the bucket (below the weight limit fully clothed and more than 1# of shell above their head) you can just leave it in the car.

With Jack two months - he hated the seat with a passion.

I am going to try my best to keep Tyler in it for as long as possible.

ds we switched at 2 months... he was just too heavy and big for it
