When did you switch to convertible carseat

DS is 3 months old and we are having a really hard time getting him into the infant carseat. I have to bend his legs up like crazy to get the straps around and I don't even have to tighten the straps, he just fits into them.

We actually switched MIL's to the convertible this week because the carrier was getting too heavy for her to carry.

I should add that DS has excellent neck and back control and can already tripod and sits up supported really well, so I think he could handle sitting in a shopping cart with no problem.

I am considering switching at the latest in April when Ann will be 9 months and we are driving to South Carolina.

Also considering it now since even though she's not a big girl at all, it's staring to get heavy for me to carry her in the snugride. As long as she still fits in it though, we will probably just keep that in DH's car and the convertible in my car. And once she's at the infant seat limits, get a convertible for his car.

I switched DS last month, he was 11 months. He is still in my DH's car in the infant seat at now 1 year old. We bought a convertible for DH's car, but so far having issues installing it.

ETS: DS is currently 23.5lbs and 29.5" tall. a half inch taller than the recomendation for our car seat.

WE're thinking of doing this soon. DS is 4 mo and 17lbs already

he still fits into the carrier just fine, but it sure is heavy lugging it around. We're looking into buying a convertible one soon b/c our infant seat is up to 22lbs. and before i know it DS will be 22 lbs..LOL.

I didn't switch DS until he was about 7/8 months. He was a big boy and getting very heavy for the infant seat as well.

I do think 3 months is a little young to move out of the infant seat. Have you tried adjusting the harness straps in the back of the seat? What kind of seat do you have?

We have a Graco. DS was 24 inches and 12.5 lbs at his 2 month checkup. He at least 15 lbs now (he wears 6-9 months) and I can tell he has gained a few inches, because he can now reach the bottom of his Exersaucer.

ETS: The convertible does say that it starts at 5 lbs. I rode with him in the back last night in MIL's car and he fits in it well.

We just switched. DS is 6 1/2 months old. She seems so much happier in the convertible seat!

DD was 3 months old, she hated the infant carrier and DS was 5 months

DS #1 was switched when he was 1 but he was a very small baby.

We switched DS#2 last weekend. He just turned 10 mos. He's my chunkamonka!

I had them both in the Britax as soon as they could hold their heads up. (rear facing)

DD is almost 5 months and at least 16 lbs and 25 inches. We are going to wait to move her until the weather gets better because it's just easier for me to use the infant carrier. I would definitely feel comfy moving her to the convertible carseat at this point, but I'm not just for my own ease. (Even though the infant carrier is HEAVY!)

DD is almost 9 months and I still have her in the infant carrier!! I just can't give it up yet!! I keep saying this will be the week and guess what it comes and goes!!

We just ordered DD's convertible seat. When it gets here we'll be switching her to it. She'll be 9 months old on Friday.

DD is 6 months old....16 lbs.

I'm ready to switch. I'm tired of lifting and dragging that car seat around. Plus I feel like the snap & go isn't moving as smoothly now that she's heavier.


Might leave infant seat in husband's car and convertible in mine.

We switched when the weather got warm enough that I didn't need the Bundle Me anymore. She was born in August so she was around 7 or 8 months. The last few weeks were a struggle because she is a chubs and I was having a hard time carrying her in the seat!
