When do they sit up and from what position

Around when did your DC sit up on his/her own and what position did they start in? TIA

rocco started right at 5 months as the month progressed he sat straighter and taller by six mos, he was a pro.

Without my scrapbook handy I want to say around 6 1/2 months - 7 months he could get into a sitting up position on his own.

And it was the cutest thing to watch!!!! He would be on his belly and tilt to the side...push up on his arm a bit but he would also be hunched over a bit as he went up...think head down belly still near the floor...and then he would just POP up. Too cute...it's my second favorite thing to watch (watching them eat is my first)


ETA: he was sitting up at around 5 1/2 - 6 months - we would put him in position and he would stay.

Kaydyn sits up now on her own if she is placed there. She cannot go from laying down to sitting up yet. She is just about 6 months.

DD can sit up on her own - she is 6 1/2 months and has been able to do it for a few weeks. However, I don't leave her alone like that, b/c she can still be known to tip over!

I would say about 6 months he could sit fi we put him that way. He is now 9 months, and can get into sitting position from any angle, LOL

All my kids were "placed" to sit at around 5 1/2 - 6 months or so...

They got themselves to sitting at 8 1/2 months..

My eldest daughter did it really weird b/c she has really flexible joints so we wont go by her..DS started by getting himself up on his hands and knees then he would tuck his knees underneath him, sit his tush and walk his hands backwards until he was sitting up...

DD started staying in a seated position without falling over if we put her that way at 5 1/2 months. She got herself to the sitting position without assistance 2 days after she turned 7 months. She does it from her belly. She gets her legs under her as if she was going to crawl, bends one leg, pushes to the side to fall back on her butt, and then pushes with the other arm and voila she's upright!!

DD "tripod" sat at 4.5 months...she sat up well when placed at about 5-5.5 months...now at 6.5 months she sits great (can still topple over) she can rock back and forth while sitting and reach to get toys...she has yet to get herself to sitting though.

Dd was 9 months old (7months corrected0 when she sat up from laying on her back.

It's pretty funny, we had her at the beach and put her on a towel on the grass and she just sat up. We were both and at the same tme.
