When do they start saying words?
My DS is a big-time babbler, but the only words he has so far are ma ma and da da (and he doesn't always use them in context). He's 13 months. When should I expect him to start saying some more words? He's not in daycare (I've heard daycare babies start sooner since they are around kids more often).
Thanks!

Re: When do they start saying words?
Both of my kids were in daycare. Joseph said at 10 months "Baah" to refer to a ball but that didn't count because - well he didn't say "Ball". He referred to Daddy as "DaDa" about the same time - which then translated into "Man", calling every Man a Dada. Maddie said Dada about 11 months.
At 12-17 months, the milestones are: 12 - 17 months Attends to a book or toy for about two minutes.
Follows simple directions accompanied by gestures.
Answers simple questions nonverbally.
Points to objects, pictures, and family members.
Says two to three words to label a person or object (pronunciation may not be clear).
Tries to imitate simple words.
From that I would say he's right on target.
