My DD is still on the 3 hour plan -- she'll be 7 months next weekend. During the night, she stretches from 8pm to anywhere from 12 to 6, but during the day is 3 hours on the button.

Re: when do times between feedings get longer?

I am bf too, and I can tell you that it gets SO MUCH EASIER pretty soon. In the beginning it seems like the baby just wants to eat constantly. With my son, for the first few weeks, there were times when he was eating every hour. I was miserable and didn't think I'd be able to do it. But I hung in there and when he hit about a month it got a lot better. He started eating around every 3 hours during the day and sometimes would go for much longer at night. He turned 11 weeks on Sunday and just this past week he has started sleeping through the night -- not regularly, but occasionally. (Also, he will eat a lot when he goes through growht spurts -- around 3 weeks, 6 weeks, and 3 months).

BF is so tough in the beginning. Just hang in there. I promise around 1 month things will just start to get much easier. I can't even explain why or how, but it just does.

I agree with the previous posters Chat Icon We are nursing nearing 7 weeks and the 1st 2 - 3 weeks DD wanted to eat nearly every hour on the hour. It was tough but I am SO glad I stuck it out.

Now she is averaging close to every 3 hours and can even go longer at night time. Hang in there! Breast feeding does get better hang in there Chat Icon it is SO worth it!

oh - thank you for the support - I have these moments (esp. yesterday and today) when it's so tempting to go to the bottle - you get so tired on top of the sleep deprivation - it's like I'm a breastfeeding machine! Chat Icon man oh man - I wonder how those women back in the 1700 and 1800's did it - I don't think they complained - we just get so spoiled in this lifetime that when we have to do these "natural" things it seems soooooo hard!
