When do you start giving them 3 bottles a day?

DS still takes 4 a day and he usually has 4-5 oz at each bottle.

Ive been on 3 bottles for about a month now. His are 6 oz each. I do bottle, meal, meal, bottle, meal, bottle if that helps at all.

ETA: Your schedule sounds fine if that works for him IMO. As long as they're starting to get enough nutrition from food, if he still prefers 4 smaller ones, I think its OK.

I do the same schedule except if I know I am gonna be out for his afternoon bottle then I do bottle, meal bottle, meal meal, bottle. He gets 8oz in each bottle and I have been doing it since he is 6 months old. The only way I could do 3 bottle and 3 meals was to do it this way because he wouldnt drink after his meal.

Lauren gets 3 bottles and 3 meals a day. She's been on this schedule for a bit now. Her bottles are usually 6 ounces. She also takes a sippy cup of water and/or formula through the day.

I read at about 9 mos they should have between 32-36 oz of formula per day, hope that helps.

Re: When do you start giving them 3 bottles a day?

it's amazing to see the varying between peds. We just came back from DD's 9 month appt and he wants her drinking at least 20ozs a day, and if that means cutting back her solids, then we should do so.

He is still firm on the majority of vitamins and diet til 1 years old should still come from formula and solids are just for practice.
It makes sense, DD is not on a vitamin supplement.

DD eats 2 meals a day and drinks 17-19 ozs a day in the form of 4 bottles. We have to cut back her solids a bit, since she isn't getting 20oz on a daily basis.

It's so confusing isn't it? Chat Icon

My ped said 20oz is good for DS and that's including the milk that goes in his cereal.
