When do you start looking into childbirth classes?

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

My Dr asked us last night if we'd signed up for any classes, but we haven't. In fact, I don't even know what's offered around here.

I contacted the hospital where I'm delivering to see what was offered since the classes my dr's office had didn't work for us. I'm going in JuneChat Icon

Re: When do you start looking into childbirth classes?

ahhhh there's the problem...i don't KNOW what hospital yet! Chat Icon

If I end up a scheduled C, I'm going to Stony Brook.
If it's spontaneous labor, I'm likely headed to St Catherine (against my will!)

arghhhh.

I could give you the number of the person I am taking classes with if you want. She is very familiar with Stony Brook and she is great!

Why the different hospitals based on the type of delivery?

my OB has rights at both hospitals, but because they're literally in the bldg @ st caths, she cant guarantee that she'll deliver me if I choose to go to Stony Brook. She can't jet to SB to deliver just ME if she has another 2 or 3 deliveries at St Caths. Which totally makes sense.

I WANT to go to Stony Brook for all the obvious reasons (better maternity ward, excellent NICU, etc.). St Cath's maternity ward is lacking.

If I end up with a scheduled C for one reason or another, I can schedule it with her at Stony Brook.

Or option 3 is to just go to SB when I'm in labor and let someone else deliver me/circumsize baby....and MY OB will try to stop in and check on us.

see what I mean? Chat Icon

Gotcha! Sounds like a big puzzle. So you won't really know where you will deliver until you go into labor.
