When do you stop paying into TRS?
I'm going in to year 10. Will I stop paying NEXT year? Also, is it automatically stopped?
My plan is to take that 3% and move it into my TDA.

When do you stop paying into TRS?
Yes, it's automatically stopped after you complete your 10th year.

Are you Tier 4? If so, the 3% deduction stops after 10 years of service or 10 years of membership, whichever comes first.. ( i taught for a year, stopped teaching for 3 years, and then went back, so my deductions actually stopped after 7 years of teaching, but 10 calendar years since first joining).
If.you never had a lapse in contributions, deductions should.automatically cease with the first paycheck of your 11th year.

When do you stop paying into TRS?
Would anyone know what happens if I started in NYCDOE for three years then started teaching on the island? I am in the process of having my NYC TRS transferred to the NYS TRS. Do they take into account my three years in the city?

AS long as you complete the transfer, yes!

tier 4 pays into pension for 10 years
Tier 5 and 6 teachers contribute their entire career.

OMG! I just looked at my TRS account - I started in 2006 and I am tier IV - so I get to stop paying after ten years? That is fabulous!

yup!! i got in the last year, which is why i would love to get back into a public school
