When do you take this glucose test that I see everyone posting about?
Why do you take it? Is to determine if you have GD?

Between 25 and 28 weeks. It is to determine if you have GD.

My next appt is Dec 6, I will be about 25 weeks. My Dr didn't say anything about this test. Does everyone take it? Is it standard?
Edited to add, Nicole you go to SB too, I remember from another post. What is the procedure there for this?
Who is your Dr? Mine is Dr. Jennifer Johnson. She is awesome, I really like her.

They will usually send you home with the drink and tell you to take it an hour before the test. I would call your office and see when they want to do it and if you need to pick up the drink. As far as I know, everyone has a glucose test.
ETS- Apparently I'm really behind on this, but congratulations! I had no idea you were preggo!

Thanks Nicole. I remember FMing you about I think some type of paper for our weddings in 2004. It's so cool to see how everyone is starting families.

Dr Johnson is my Dr too. At your 25 week appointment she will give you a script to go. It isn't a big deal unless you fail (which I did). Then you have to take the 3 hour (I failed that too) She is now treating me for GD. She is so reassuring and I feel very comfortable with her. In fact everyone there has been great.
ETA: They will probably send you to quest and you drink the drink there, wait for an hour and then they draw your blood.

Where is Quest? I think that may be problem for me, my insurance doesn't cover include Quest. Everything goes to Sunrise.

your doctors office will send you to whichever lab is covered by your insurance. my doctors office does the bloodwork in their office, but I know alot who have done it at an outside lab. Im doing mine at 28 weeks. HTH!

I took it at 28 weeks. I drank it in the waiting room and then they drew blood an hour later. My ob office has a lab in it.

I'm doing it at my next appt where I will be 25.5 weeks. I go first thing in the morning, they take blood, I drink the drink, wait an hour, and they take blood again. I don't have to go anywhere different but I do have to fast. Maybe they'll give you the info at your next appt.

I just took the test today, at 24 weeks. My doctor does the test between 24-28 weeks.

I will take mine at 26 weeks. I get there an hour early, drink the flat soda drink, wait and get blood.
