When does a baby start to drink more than 8 oz of formula?

Julia is 6 months and has been drinking 8 oz since about 5 months at each feeding + her cereal for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Occasionally she will want more and Ill make a few ounces in another bottle or give her water.

When does it start to increase - or will it stay like this for a while.

Im using the Dr. Brown 8 oz bottles - do i have to upgrade to bigger bottles soon?
TIA

Do they make bigger bottles?

I thought they never really go higher, they start substituting with solids.

thsi is what I thought too. also, I dont think they made bigger than the 8oz dr Browns. with solids, she shouldnt need more than 8oz at a feeding..

Re: When does a baby start to drink more than 8 oz of formula?

My DD still only takes 6 oz bottles, 7 oz sometimes, but rarely. She is also in the 95th %TILE for both height and weight, so she's a big baby and I expected she'd take more, but she never has.

I questioned the Dr. about it and she said most babies SHOULDN'T ever take more then 6 oz at a feeding.

Mine only get 7 oz per feeding - 4 feedings a day, and we have to cut that down now that they are switchin to milk. I would give her more solids.

I could of sworn they make bigger Dr. Brown bottles - i guess notChat Icon
Julia is also in the 95% for height and weight - but the doctor never questioned her drinking so much - i guess cause she's right on target - shes always been a big eater. I guess i may just have to increase her solids a bit more - we have her 6 month checkup on wednesday - so ill check with my peditrican then and let you know.

Thanks ladies.Chat Icon
