When is the earliest time of the year you'd have a yard sale?
I'm wrestling with holding on to stuff long enough into early spring to have a yard sale but really want to just throw so much stuff out now!
Does it really need to be warm and sunny to get a decent turn-out?
Also if you've had yard sales, how did you *advertise*?

If it was warm enough in March, I'd have one that early, but I don't know if I'd go any earlier than that. In the past, I've posted on Craigslist. There's a "Garage Sale" area in the "For Sale" section. I've also hung up signs around the neighborhood. I live on a busy street, so I've never really had problems getting people to stop by. You can also post an ad in the Pennysaver.

No problem! I had quite a few people tell me that they had seen my ad, so people definitely do look up sales on there!
ETA: Also, if you're friendly with your neighbors, you can ask if they're interested in having a sale the same day. Lots of people look for multi-family sales.

well, we need to have DD outside with us so that always played a factor. When I was pregnant we had one in April and it was really cold. People still came out, we did good but it was too cold to sit out there.
Now we always have them in May

Re: When is the earliest time of the year you'd have a yard sale?
central nj here... the signs come up around here as soon as it's officially spring.
i've had them as early as late march. and if it's warm enough, as late as early october.
as far as advertising, all i've ever done is put up signs. i live near a busy intersection, so signs are all i need.
i, usually, don't make a lot of money (because i price everything to sell), but i ALWAYS end the day with a LOT less stuf, which always makes me very happy.
this year, since i'm downsizing, i'm hoping to start ASAP and get rid of almost everything

On our first nice Saturday, I'm having one. I don't care if it's still February I want the stuff gone and if I can make a buck, good for me!
