When it comes to clothing, shoes, etc., what does "affordable" mean to you?
I love Lucky magazine, but I really don't know if I'm going to bother buying it again- everything in there is SO expensive. They had a big shoe spread, and there was one pair that they referred to as "affordable" but even they were almost $100. To me, that's not affordable, and shoes are something I am willing to invest in because I am on my feet so much. But $100 is NOT affordable to me. Am I the only one?

Nope, that's not affordable for me either. I try not to spend more than $65 on shoes, and usually spend less (except for boots). Clothing right now is so expensive in general, and it's hard for me to afford regularly priced clothing at mainstream stores that I've always shopped at (Express, Limited, etc.)

Affordable Shoes: $29.99 to $59.99 Affordable Boots: $79.99 - $129.99 Affordable Shirts: $19.99 - $49.99 Affordable Pants: $29.99 - $79.99
That's my range generally speaking.

I feel the same way about Lucky. Someone got me a subscription and I like it, but I won't renew.
I never actually find their "affordable" items to BE affordable. I can't spend $300 on a suit jacket, even if it IS on sale from $500!!
Shoes, I can go up to $60 without thinking about it.
Anything more than that and I really have to justify spending the money.

That is so funny that you say that because I love what they show and I can swear that when the mag came out, nothing was supposed to be more than a $100!!! Nothing in there is LESS than a $100!!! Even their home magazine, Domino, is the same way! Not my budget! I go to Marshall's and give me $200 and I can come back with bags full!!!

IMO...lucky magazine is a lot BETTER than the other magazines....You buy marie claire or any other....there is NOTHING you can buy AT ALL. And imo 100 on shoes is about average these days...Hell sneakers for men start at 80+

One word Ebay, I love it because I can get stuff that sells in retail for half the price.

I would never pay $100 for shoes..A lot of those magazines are really unrealistic in what they consider "affordable"

What's the one that has the Splurge vs Steal? Is that Allure? Glamour? The steal is rarely reasonable.
I have a hard time finding shoes, so I will spend up to about $80 on them. Shirts & pants, I usually try & stay under $50.

This is pretty much my range too, but sometimes buy cheap "filler" stuff for summer - tshirts and shoes

Almost everything I own is off the Gap clearence rack or the sales on their website. Every now and then I will splurge, but i have to really want the item.
Work boots I will spend 75.00-100.00 on since I will wear them 5 days a week for 8 months out of the year. I live in black boots.

Re: When it comes to clothing, shoes, etc., what does "affordable" mean to you?
I only shop sales... that's it...
Ann Taylor Loft... must be a real sale and only a couple of things a year.
Old Navy... maybe not on sale.
Gap.. only on sale, maybe why I haven't found anything in ten years there
Target
TJ Maxx
Marshalls
I don't even walk on the same side of the mall as Banana Republic or J. Crew

I get Lucky for free (DH works for the company), but I agree. I use it more as a fashion reference. I then try to put together a similar look for under $100.
