When people give you the cold shoulder...
do you ignore it? or ask if everything is ok?
My friend gave me the cold shoulder yesterday and then today at we were at a party for our friends' son and we accidentally gave the same gift...DH and I gave a few other things too. She was OBVIOUSLY upset by this and ignored me the rest of the night. and while we were out tonight with two other couples at the movies, she turned her back to us the whole time and talked to everyone else. I just feel like this is so High School and I can't stand Pety crap.
I just ignored it tonight, but if it continues, should I say something?

Re: When people give you the cold shoulder...
Put it out there in that "I" language...
"I'm feeling like something may be wrong.... I just want to make sure things are cool with us. Did I do something to offend you or something, your friendship means so mch to me... why are you being such a C**t (j/k )"

LOL! I would say something along the lines of (in a joking/sarcastic tone): "OK___ (insert name here), I get it, you're angry at me...any idea how long this is going to last, bc I really would like you guys to come to dinner w/us Tues night"or something along those lines. I find that if you are over 7 years old, giving the cold shoulder to a friend is just a completely riduculous & immature way to react...and by being somewhat sacarstic you're getting the point across(?)! Tell her to grow up&stop being passive-aggressive! if you p*ssed her off,she should just be able to come out &tell you directly.

Thanks for the advice....this is why I hate getting close to girls...b/c there is always something REALLY stupid that happens and gets blown out of proportion. I can't stand crap like this. How long should I wait to say something? a few days and see what happens?

I take the low road and ignore them back. If you are not grown up enough to talk to me about what is wrong than I am not grown up enough to care. to people that deal with things that way.

Re: When people give you the cold shoulder...
need me to drive down to NC and smack the shat out of her???
seriously - just call her and ask whats up. I like the suggestion about saying "did I do anything-stressing if YOU did something rather than go off on her:
if I ever pee you off in such fashion, call me out on it

same here. I dont think I would have even gone to the movies the next nite if I knew someone there was acting like this. dont poop on my parade
she's being very immature. ignore her, she will go away
eta: Depending on how close you are, MAYBE send an email? but I wo uldnt bend over backwards for her, seems like she's not willing to bend over backwards to even meet you halfway, you did ask what was the matter right ?
sounds like youre above this behavior spend time with more po sitive people.

We went to the movies the night of the party...and we went with two other couples besides us....its weird; I mainly think she got so upset b/c she looked cheap. We got one gift at Costco, which was a lightening McQueen plush pillow, it was 12 bucks and I thought score! Then we got two other Cars themed toys. Just so happens that at the party they got the same plush pillow, so the kid has two now, no biggie...his mom even said, he can keep one at the house and one at his gma's. After they opened our present she said "we told you what we got"...I said No, you told me you got him something from Cars. That is when she became OBVIOUSLY upset. I mean why would Purposely buy the same thing? Why would I go out of my way to upset someone....and over a PILLOW? The whole thing is retarded...and I can't stand this crap. I would email her, if I felt she wouldn't print it out and show everyone. I think I'm just gonna give it a few days and if I don't hear from her I'll call her and see what the deal is.

Re: When people give you the cold shoulder...
Depends. Do you want to remain friends with someone that would act this way?
I have a former friend who did this kind of crap and I have given up on the friendship. Life is hard enough w/o having to deal with such nonsense.

Re: When people give you the cold shoulder...
i totally agree w/ it being stupid "girl" crap....why is it that guys dont have to deal w/this kinda nonsense?! I dont think i would call her to be honest with you....by going out of your way to "make up" with her, you are showing her its acceptable to you for her to treat you like this. I say, let it go,dont call....you already went out of your way enough to try to make things ok. Eventually when you do talk to her again (she sounds like one of those types to call you in a couple of weeks like everythings ok) I would have to bring it to her attention that she acted ridiculous, and that you are insulted that she would think you are the kind of person who would intentionally do something out of spite to her!

I deal with them the same way.
When they grow up & are ready to act like an adult, I'm there...unless it's a common event, then I ditch them because I don't waste my time being friends with people like that.
