When running on the treAdmill..

Do you run closer to the front or towards the back/end of the belt?

Im always up front, sometimes I get so close my stomach hits the bar.

Saturday this guy was running on the treadmill as far back as he could go and there isnt much walking space behind the treadmill. I didnt even realize he was that far back as I walked past and his foot hit my water bottle that was in my hand. I freaked out a bit after thinking him hitting that could have startled him and e could have fallen off.

Then I started thinking it is common for people to run that far back. He may have just been tall or maybe running at a speed that, that is where runs?

interesting question...I think I tend to go towards the front. My treadmill has a slightly longer belt than average (I think 60 in. vs. 55), so I have a bit of room, but I think I typically stay more towards the front, unintentionally. Everyone's gait varies, so maybe he just had a longer one.

I always run close to the front. It can be annoying though because I've accidently hit the emergency stop button a few times!

I think I run right in the middle. Sometimes I sense myself getting too close to the back or the front, and correct it.

Same here, and I clip my ipod to the front of my pants, so that bumps into the bar occasionally. But I'm afraid of falling off, LOL.

Funny you just posted this. I realized last night that almost everybody else I see at the gym is more towards the front, whereas I am sort of middle, but creep backward. I was wondering what I am doing wrong.

Same here. I think you're actually "suppose" to run in the middle because too far forward or back can mess up your gait and cause other problems w/your back, knees, etc.

Same. I find when I run faster, I'm waaaay closer to the front. It freaks me out if I go too far back because I'm always afraid I'll fall off, totally embarrass myself, and never be able to show my face at the gym again. Yes, this is what I think about when I run on the treadmill sometimes. "Don't fall off!"
