When Should I book Christening?

DS is 3 weeks old. I kind of wanted to wait for a little warmer weather so I can have the party at home.
When did you book your childs christening?

Re: When Should I book Christening?

My church only do it on designated Sundays. So, I told them the month I wanted them christened & they told me the day.

Re: When Should I book Christening?

I booked it after she was born. we had to take baptismal classes since it was our 1st child, that i did before she was born.

Our church does it the 1st and 3rd sunday of the month and in order to book you have to fill out a form and turn in sponsor/godparent certificates in order to book.

I booked the beginning of May for a late june christening.

ETA: Call the rectory to see what your church's policy/procedure is, it will put you at ease and start the process :)

Re: When Should I book Christening?

I'm having mine on March 11th, but DD will be 7 months by then which is alot later than i orignally wanted. I did not want it in the dead of winter either. I would say to start to look at places now to book for maybe April or May. It should definitley be warmer by then.

If you are planning a party out, I would start looking now. With graduation and communion season coming it's hard to find a place.

I am a huge planner too. Ava was born in July. We took the class in May. She was Christened at 4 weeks old.

Re: When Should I book Christening?

Since I am the eternal procrastinator, I would say to plan it sooner rather than later (I have to force myself to do things in a timely manner, but am so much happier when I do - otherwise it hangs over my head and eats away.) We booked DD's in early January for late March. We still have to book the restaurant. Hopefully we'll get that done this weekend.

If you want it in May just remember it's communion time. I would go now and book it to be sure you have it.

Re: When Should I book Christening?

Keep in mind that communions are held in April so you may run into problems booking a restaurant.
