When to announce at work?

I told my direct mgr on Tuesday. I am 12 weeks tomorrow. The only reason I did was I called out one day the week before for not feeling well and then I started spotting on Tuesday so I had to leave early to go to the doctors. There is a senior mgr and a vp that oversee my dept. Do you think I need to tell them directly or my mgr should be the one to tell them? I've asked my mgr not to say anything until I knew everything was ok.

I would tell them myself. I wouldn't expect the manager to tell everyone if its my news to share. Congrats!

You tell.

ETA: when you're ready.

When to announce at work?

I told my immediate co-workers right away because I had horrendous MS. I told everyone else between 12-15 weeks. I called the owner of the store myself, but we have a really good relationship and I didnt want him to hear it from anyone else!

Ditto. I work with my MIL and even she didn't know until about 8 weeks. The other girls in my department knew at about 6 weeks since I was really sick and they needed to know why I kept leaping from the desk and running for the bathroom. My manager and other co-workers I told after my NT scan at 12 weeks. I told everyone myself unless my MIL got there first. Definitely not the place of your manager though.

When to announce at work?

I told my dept chair at 13 weeks and my principal at 20 weeks. You tell them when you're comfortable.

Re: When to announce at work?

I told my direct boss at 9 weeks only because my MS has been so bad that it was directly effecting me at work and I didn't want him to think I was slacking off for no reason. He asked that I notify HR when I was ready and he kept it to himself until I notified my department. I told HR this week and told my co-workers right after. Everyone was suspicious and worried because of how sick I've been, so I felt better that they knew instead of thinking there was something seriously wrong.

But, essentially, it should come directly from you.

Re: When to announce at work?

So I guess my next question is who do I tell next? Senior mgr then VP then immediate coworkers? I hardly ever see the VP and rarely ever speak to her. She's also not such a friendly individual so I'm somewhat scared to have to tell her. The senior mgr I have no problems with telling. The other issue is they are bringing on a lot of new clients and I am not sure how that will affect their decision making process on how they will split up work load.

When to announce at work?

I told my direct boss at 13 weeks because I was still so sick. I told direct coworkers at 21/22 weeks. I didn't make an announcement beyond that, everyone else either saw me or still doesn't know!

I would tell whoever you directly report to on a regular basis first. Usually they will then tell you who else to notify. I told my direct boss, then HR, then my co-workers. I didn't tell my VP...I don't report directly to him and I really almost never see him.

Ok well I told my direct supervisor and he didn't tell me I needed to tell anyone else. I plan to wait until after my nt scan next week. The senior mgr and the vp work in my office but I have very little contact with both. At this point I will prob just tell hr and the other immediate co-workers in my group.
