when to change the nipple?
Gillian has been sucking the slow nipple very hard practically since birth so I assumed maybe I should go to medium flow. Low and behold she looked like she was flooded in formula. At what point do you change from slow-medium? Also, I would like to possibly give her a teaspoon of cereal...she is 5 weeks...is this a very bad idea?

Re: when to change the nipple?
I would only give her cereal if she is eating way too much and is still hungry. If they are too young, they can not process the cereal.
I changed Steven's nipples when he was falling asleep during his feedings and I knew he wasn't full yet.

Re: when to change the nipple?
I use Dr. Browns bottles and I changed the nipples at 3 months and at 6 months. He was getting annoyed with the bottles that's how I knew I had to change them. We started cereal at 4 months. Only because he wasn't satisfied with milk only.

Re: when to change the nipple?
Level-One Nipples For feeding newborn babies. These nipples come on every Dr. Brown's Natural Flow® baby bottle. Level-Two Nipples For feeding infants aged 3 months+. Level-Three Nipples For feeding more aggressive eaters, usually 6 months+ Y-Cut Nipples Faster flow for thicker liquids. Preemie Nipples For feeding preemie babies. This nipple is available only for the Standard Dr. Brown's Natural Flow® baby bottle. Here are the nipple levels for Dr Browns. I don't know what kind you are working with. I followed the system they suggested and it work out nicely. I would ask your pediatrician if cereal is ok at this point.
