When to move to the real tub?

At what age or stage did you start giving baths in the real tub? Kiera's able to totally sit up on her own now and I think she would love to be in a real tub but is 8 months too soon?

What about those blow up tubs that go inside the tub? They're relatively cheap and it retains the heat and protects them? I think Babie R' Us carries them. I love it for Amber because it's like a blow up kiddy pool inside the tub.

Good Question! I was curious about the same thing...Since Ryan really learned to splash in his pool, he LOVES to do the same in the kitchen sink! What a mess. We actually tried him in the tub about a month - month and a half ago because of the start of the splashing but he was too small. We are hoping to try again soon and he is 8 months tomorrow :)

Aidan is 13 months and we are still bathing him in the kitchen sink. Its much easier on my back and there is still plenty of room for him to play!

Re: When to move to the real tub?

I was wondering the same thing. I don't want Emily to go to the big tub because we have shower doors on our tub and I know it'll be awkward. She is actually still in the infant toddler tub and she splashes like crazy. She loves it! It tires her out enough for bed time, so I don't mind her splashing away. The longer I can keep her in the kitchen sink, the better on Mommy's back.

I just started putting Nick in the real tub - he loves it. I put like a few inches of water in there, and I keep a hand on him at all times (not that he needs it, but just to be safe!).

Im so glad this was posted. Claire is only 6 months but sits up pretty well now. I just moved her infant tub to the big tub, but since she is starting to outgrow the baby tub I wasn't sure what to do.
