When to tell

When did you start telling family members that you are pregnant? My DH wants to wait until we are our of the 1st trimester but I can't see waiting that long. We will be telling my parents tonight - and we told his the other day.

I just really want to be able to tell everyone right now but I know he won't let me. I'm so bad at keeping secrets.Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: When to tell

I am waiting until 1st tri. DH wants to KILL me for it, but I do not want to get everyone excited this early on. Plus I want them all to keep their "advice" to themselves. I really do not want that extra stress in the first tri.Chat Icon

Re: When to tell

I know - that's a good point too. I just think it's so hard to not tell the people I am closest to about one of the biggest things in my life.

It's like getting engaged but not being able to tell anyone. Chat Icon Chat Icon

I think we will tell at Thanksgiving. That will be around 11 weeks.

I told my mom, MIL, brother and BF right away. I didn't tell anyone else until 13 weeks.

Re: When to tell

i told everyone right away. they are my family and no matter what i would want them to be apart of the wonderful news.and god fobid something would happen along the line, my family and friends would be there to support me. as for my coworkers at the time,i had such terrible morning sickness and looked like the walking dead, they figured it out. so i couldnt really hide it.

That is when we are telling. I am just nervous b/c we have several family functions before that & I am afraid that people will notice that I am not drinking.

Ironically we did not tell our families & friends about our engagement until we had the church & Hall signedChat Icon Both of our families are very .... opinionated. Neither one of us wanted to deal with that messChat Icon

We told CLOSE friends and family that we see often right away...for the excitement but also in the event of misfortune so that they would be in the know should something happen and wonder why we were not so happy anymore. Chat Icon Once the Dr. gave the OK, we told everyone else. I remember with my first child, I wouldn't let anyone know...not even our parents. So for 2 weeks, no one knew...at my first appt. the dr. asked if I'd told anyone, I said no. He said, you should...you're quite healthy and it's safe.

Re: When to tell

The 1st time i got PG we told EVERYONE that we were close to-probably about 10 people. Then I had a m/c and had to tell everyone again. 2nd time we told fewer people and since the dr's told me the chances of it happening again were low we figured we were good. Then I had another loss. The next time i get PG no one will know until I am at least 10 weeks
