when to tell extended families/friends/grandparents/work?

DH and I already told both our families (parents and siblings).

Just wondering when to tell everyone else. We at least want to wait till our ultrascreen which is exactly at 12 W (right before thanksgiving).

I was thinking that it's ok to tell everyone else after that appointment. What do you think. We will definately tell our grandparents by then (and i'm sure once they know it will be out the all the aunts/uncles)...think it's ok to tell everyone else?

What about work?? I am waiting for a possible promotion at work, so although I really want to tell them at thanksgiving time...if I don't know about the promotion yet, not sure it would be a good idea to say anything yet. What do you think???

this question gets asked all the time. it doesn't matter what we did. it matters what YOU are most comfortable with. Chat Icon

It's all a matter of personal preference- whatever you and your husband are comfortable with. We didn't tell anyone until we had seen the heartbeat at 6 weeks. My doc explained to me that once you can see the heartbeat, the risk of miscarriage drops to 3%, which is as good as it gets for the remainder of the pregnancy. So we saw no reason to wait after that, because nothing was going to change. We told our immediately families first, and then all our friends, and then work. But there's no right answer! Whatever you are comfortable with!! Chat Icon

Re: when to tell extended families/friends/grandparents/work?

we are telling our immediate families on thanksgiving which will be a few days shy of 12wks for me and then we will probably tell extended family and friends around 12-13 weeks. As far as work goes, i'm waiting until I'm obviously showing to tell them. I see no need to let them know so early.

It all depends on what makes you comfortable Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

We wanted to wait till 12 wks but DH is already slipping here and there lol and I don't know how long I can keep it to myself.

So we decided to tell our DS Thanksgiving morning and then my parents at Thanksgiving dinner and DH parents that Sunday after Thanksgiving. I will be just shy of 9 weeks then. A bit early on but we really want to tell already lol.
