When to tell family
So this weeked i am seeing DH parents and siblings and we would like to share the happy news. But i am wondering if its too early (i will only be 4 weeks), i just feel like i would want my family around, god forbid i needed support down the road. Any opinions? I will be telling my mom tomorrow, and then my dad next week after i get the bloodwork back. I dont plan on telling everyone else (besides a few close friends) till i am 2-3 months along

Re: When to tell family
we told our family pretty early too. i dont think it is ever "too early" - expecially for your family - god forbid something goes wrong you will have them all there for support.
Good luck - its so exciting!!!

Re: When to tell family
It depends - if you are the type of person that will tell them anyway if G-d forbid something bad happens then tell them now.
I wanted to make sure when I told them it was the big announcement that they remembered forever, not having to go back with bad news if anything happened. But that's just me.
Have fun telling them!

well I know!! (but I won't say anything, not to worry!)
I've had this discussion with Lenny before. He'd be perfectly happy NEVER telling anyone until....oooh, here's the baby! I would want my immediate family to know early for the same reasons (g-d forbid anything goes wrong, I would want the support of them as well as DH). Plus, I have such a big mouth I don't think I could keep it from my family!

Re: When to tell family
I told my parents as soon as I found out, which was a little after midnight on a Saturday ! I told my very close friends the next day when I saw them at a bbq and gradually told everyone else over a period of 3 months. I personally couldn't wait to tell everyone and therefore decided not to wait. But that's a personal decision. Some people wait until after their first OB visit and others wait until after the first trimester. That's really up to you and what you feel comfortable with. If it makes you feel better, I would just tell very close family members and close friends for now.
