When traveling with an infant, if you do not rent a car and get in a taxi, do you just hold DC on your lap?
I've always wondered what mothers do with infants in cabs.
If I fly to the caribbean and don't bring a car seat, can we just take a cab to our resort without a car seat?
Has anyone had any experience with this?
I know moms who ride cabs in manhattan without car seats.

My friend who lives in Manhattan doesn't use a car seat in taxis, but I don't know how it is in other parts of the country/other countries. I'd call a TA and ask. Or call the hotel where you will be staying and ask.

i know in brooklyn i just call and get a cab with a car seat in it. i'd talk to someone (travel agent, car service, etc.) and see if it's an option. if it is, just make sure and specify what kind of car seat you need (infant, etc.)
i know there are also car seats that fold up really small for travel. there's one in baby bargains. it's the cosco tote 'n go (6+ months) and it say's it's $30. i have no experience with it, but i'm sure it's better than nothing.

For St. Pete,Florida we rented a car and brought DSs car seat with us on the airplane. For Disney we did not bring the car seat and used their buses to and from the airport and stayed on the property to use the monorail and Disney buses.

this is what we're doing, we're not renting a car in in the caribbean and we're just having her in the sling that we have on our way to the hotel from the airport, from my research most ppl do this in the caribbean...

the cab company we use here to get to the airport holds the seat for us and brings it back for the return trip.
i would not trust NY crazy drivers with my kid on my lap
