When visiting family/friends
in the hospital.......Do you bring them a "get well gift" or card? My BFF has been in the hospital for a week, she has tons of family and friends visiting her and I'm the only one bringing her stuff....She told me she's hurt that her DH didn't even send flowers...I told her he's prob. just waiting till she feels better to appreciate them as an attempt to cheer her up.......but now I'm thinking, no one else brought anything either so maybe I'm crazy.....So what's the norm? Bring a gift or not?

Re: When visiting family/friends
I never send flowers to a hospital - some floors/sections don't allow it and they could possibly bother a roommate.
I would bring a card, magazine or something to help pass the time though.

Re: When visiting family/friends
I don't usually bring anything with me, but I always try to send a bouquet or gift basket to them when they get home...

Re: When visiting family/friends
I usually bring something small if they're in more than a few days, but NEVER flowers, some roommates might have allergies plus you have to change the water and a sick patient may not be up to that. Plus if the flowers last well they have to bring them home with all their stuff and that's awkward. I'll usually bring food, some nice chocolates, a good book, or a little basket with hand lotion, chapstick, slippers etc. Flowers I usually send after they're home to cheer them up a little!

Re: When visiting family/friends
I don't usually send flowers, because some hospital areas have restrictions and sometimes the smell in the room can get overwhelming (when I had DS I had to ask my DH to take some flowers home because the smell was getting to me)
But, I always bring a little something! Depending on who the person is I will bring gossip magazines, balloons, snacks etc.

Thankfully I've never been in that predicament. I imagine I would bring SOMETHING.
