when you go christmas shopping do you...
buy a gift that you think the person really wants or do you kind of just buy any old gift.
For example.. for my dh stepdad who we really dont see all that much since my dhs mom died i just picked him up a sweater. ill be honest not too much thought went into it.
But for my mom lets say i look around for stuff SHE would like.
what do you do?

there are some people that no matter how much thought I put into getting the gift for them, they never get excited about it...those people I will just pick up anything for them.
Whereas, others, I will put some thought, time and effort into getting them a gift

Depends on the person. I usually try and get something that I believe the person will really like, and often get them things that they need, but didn't realize they needed.

i usually go the easy way and ask them specifically what they want and get that for them. i get so paranoid about people not liking my gifts LOL so i ask them to make sure i'm getting something they like.
but there are certain people like DHs grandmoms that we don't see that often at all, so i just kind of give them whatever i find LOL

It all depends....I try to get things that I think the person would want/like & try to put as much thought into it. I do have some on my list though that have everything you can want/need & for them, I just try to pick something "nice" up. It won't matter to them either way as long as it is a gift.

I really put a lot of thought into it and TRY to get people what they would want/need.
Sometimes though, when I'm COMPLETELY stumped on what to get, I will just pick anything out just to get something or go with a GC.

I over think presents. It takes me forever to pick a present for my favorite people.
Though I will admit for my BIL wife I just get her whatever. (I barely know her & I don't like her)

I really like to get unique gifts, something I think the person will enjoy and that makes me think of him/her. If I am really stuck for ideas, I'll get something off of his/her list (if I have one)

I always put thought into it. No matter who it is for. I actually get stressed about finding the "right" gift. I really try to get something that the person will like.

Seriously, I do my very best to get thoughtful gifts for people but some people are harder to shop for then others.

Ditto this. Most people I try and be thoughtful about but there are a select few who just get something.

i am horrible at gift giving  i always have to ask people what they want! but no, i usually get things that i think people will actually like, even if i don't care whether or no they like it. does that make sense?

Depends on the person...
My mom..total thought with everything. Same for my siblings and dh and Megan of course.
My dad..I pick up anything I see basically. Not because I dont care, just because he never wants anything and its so hard to please him!
When we were dealing with dh's family, I also picked up anything. I didnt really know them to put thought into it and we never saw them..so whatever I thought was a good deal, is what they got! LOL
