When you test, do you look forward to it or are you scared?

Its been 5mths of TTC for us and I swear, Im so scared to test. This month I tested at 10DPO and got a BFN..I was so scared to see another BFN at 11DPO that I didnt test...How do some of you ladies keep testing (some multiple times a day) and have the power to keep testing even with multiple BFN's. Does that make sense?

i TTC'd for 18 months before my sticky BFP. after two m/c i was scared to test. for my IVF cycle i ONLY tested because DH and I couldnt figure out a way to find out together if the doctor called after the beta since we would both be at work. i def became terrified of testing and i would never test prior to 12DPO.

Re: When you test, do you look forward to it or are you scared?

I used to look forward to testing. After losing my son, I dread it. Trying to have a baby is so much different after a loss.

As much as I look forward to having an answer and moving on with my life one way or another, I also dread testing. With this being our 1st IVF cycle, I haven't decided if I will test at all. That's something I'm debating now.. maybe I'll just wait for the bloodwork.

It's weird, but I honestly don't have many emotions at all when I test. I usually anticipate the BFN and never let myself get my hopes up so that helps curb the disappointment. I've had so many obstacles with ttc that I always assume it will be negative. Although the last month or two have been harder to deal with.

I rarely tested because I was so tired of seeing the BFNs after 17 cycles.

I tested the cycle of our first IUI because I didn't want the news to come from a phone call while I was at work. I wanted DH to be with me too.

I am more anxious but not in a excited way. I tell myself please let it be positive an not negative. When I see the negative it just makes me feel even worse.

Yea, this is kind of how I feel. The first few months of TTC I was constantly POAS and even with BFN's I wasnt feeling too down. I just moved on. But this month (month #5) is hitting me hard...I get so down when I see that BFN..Chat Icon

I hate testing because knowing it is a no early on meaning that many more days before you can start trying again. I like to hold onto some hope till the last possible second. It is less miserable that way.

If I just wait for AF then I know I can start TTC 6 days later which makes me feel more in control.

Plus I temp so once it starts to dip combined with PMS symptoms it's kind of clear.

Re: When you test, do you look forward to it or are you scared?

Im not far enough into this TTC journey to have an opinion one way or another yet. We've stopped being careful in Jan, started officially trying last month with a BFN and are onto our second month of hardcore trying. Like the PP said, I just tell myself for 2 weeks that its not going to be it. I set myself up for a BFN so as it not be completely crushing. This month Im temping for the first time, so I expect to be dissapointed before I even have the chance to test.....just waiting for that temp drop.

However, I only plan on temping for 3 or so months, to get an idea of when I O. After I have an idea, Im going back to just OPKs.

Im a pessimist by nature though.

Re: When you test, do you look forward to it or are you scared?

I've only tested once so far and even though I knew it was going to be a BFN I was still really really nervous right before I POAS. I can't imagine how it will be once we start actively trying.

Re: When you test, do you look forward to it or are you scared?

Last month was my first time testing since having a miscarriage. I was on progesterone for the 2 week wait so I had to test a few times to be sure I was not pregnant before stopping the medication. Last month I felt like a science project because I was using the opk, timing sex, going for bloodwork, using medication during the wait and then testing. I didn't enjoy myself at all.

I was really anxious about testing and it was not a good anxious. I was a mix of emotions since it was the first try. I felt pressure to get knocked up again and as much as I wanted the bfp I was scared to be pregnant. I was relieved and also let down when the tests were negative.

This month I still have to do the same routine, so it still feels a bit like a science project but my attitude is a little different. I feel indifferent about becoming pregnant. I feel like the pressure is off to "hurry up and get pregnant again". I want to give it my best shot so I don't kick myself for not trying but I'm actually enjoying my life this month for a change and not dwelling on everything.

I'm not sure how I'll feel when it comes time to test again. I don't think I'll be excited though Chat Icon
