When you use your Formal Dining Room do you....

use placemats or a tablecloth? I really dislike tablecloths, but I am afraid that I'll ruin the table by using placemats. Or I should say, I worry about a careless guest doing something stupid Chat Icon

I use tableclothes...I find them easier to clean up & only have them on the table when we are using it. When the table is not in use, I use a table runner

I actually take everything off the table when we eat on it. I don't want to get the tablecloth dirtyChat Icon

I use placemats. It is usually just DH & I so we use the placemats. I found nice ones at Kohls that go well with my DR.

I only use the dining room when I have company so definitely a table cloth - with table pads and plastic underneath. the table cloth always gets ruined - I can't imagine if I didn't use one!

Why don't you play w/ placemats on the table cloth, or a runner on the table cloth, for a more formal look?

This is what my parents do minus the plastic. They have had their dining room table for 22 years and it's MINT! I suggest investing in some table pads.

Tablecloths, with pads underneath (for heat).

It is a must. My dining room table was wayyy too expensive to get ANYTHING on it.

I dont care for tablecloths either, but I got a really pretty Lenox one at Fortunoff and I just use it and dont think much about it.

My table staying perfect is my priority!!
