when your baby is up and ready to get out of the crib in the morning...

do you go in while they are still cooing and just "hanging out"?

do you wait for them to cry?

what's everyones routine?

Re: when your baby is up and ready to get out of the crib in the morning...

I have the video monitor so I will let him sit in his crib for a little bit before I go in and get him, he wakes up at like 6:30 so I'm still sleeping, but I don't like to wait to long cause he usually takes a poop every morning and I hate for him to sit in it--lol

ETA: He's either crying a little or calling me by the time I go in and get him.

When Kaydyn was a baby she would wake up crying...there was no cooing or hanging out. Recently (she is 16 months) every once in a while she will wake up and babble for a little bit. Usually it's no more than 10 mins or so and then she generally starts crying.

DD wakes up pretty happy and will amuse herself in her crib for a quite a while. Depending on what time it is when she wakes up, I'll either let her be, or go in after a couple of minutes to feed her.

DD is 23 months now but we always let her amuse herself for a little while. if i went in too early i noticed she would be crabby the rest of the day! it was like she needed that time to wake up. i am glad we allowed it b/c even now she hangs out and it's nice to have the extra time.

DS is 5 months, I'll let him play for a little while and then go in and get him, I don't wait until he cries.

DS almost never cries. i let him play in his crib for a few minutes before going to get him, unless it's during the week and i need to get ready for work, in which case he stays in there for a while longer Chat Icon he doesn't seem to mind, he is all smiles!!

ETA: if i waited to get DS until he cried, he would fall back asleep Chat Icon

When my DD wakes up she just starts giggling and "talking". She is ALWAYS happy in the morning and usually isn't in the biggest rush to get out of the crib. I usually let her hang out just for a few minutes so I can ease out of bed, go to the bathroom, get her bottle ready. She doesn't seem to mind at all. Chat Icon

Same exact situation with my DD. She never cries in the morning and she gives me the biggest smile as soon as she sees me for the first time.

I usually get him but he sleeps pretty late now in the morning, so its not a big deal. If he was an early waker 6 am ish for ex. I would let him stay till he crys out for us.

I wait for him to at least start whining! DS will talk and talk and talk in the AM and sometimes talk himself right back to sleep! So I let him hang out for a bit but once he starts yelling/whining then I know its time to get him!

Re: when your baby is up and ready to get out of the crib in the morning...

I always went in when Alex was just born BEFORE she cries...taught her NOT to cry and I will come...now that she is almost one she will entertain herself for 20-30 minutes and cries if she has a #2..I think you have to do what is best but this method worked for me. GL Chat Icon

Re: when your baby is up and ready to get out of the crib in the morning...

DD always stands up and calls for either me (most of the time), or DH.

She never just "plays" in there.

Same here lol. DS is very content hanging out by himself for a while. Infact, if I go in right away, even after a nap, he cries & gets cranky. he needs that time to himself & then he's a happy boy!

I don't go in if they are quiet / cooing / playing etc. unless we have to get up and go somewhere.

If they are whining or crying and it's morning I go in.

If its the middle of the night or really early (before 6 am) I don't go in unless they are really crying. Usually they go back to sleep after a few minutes.

No way! I will go downstairs, have my morning coffee or get ready for work if it's a work day...!

My DD is 2 1/2 and she wakes up and plays in her room for a bit and needs the alone time to snap out of her morning grumpies.Chat Icon

DS who is 10 months will sit up and play for about a half hour or so, and either will go back to sleep or stand up and yell for me.

I used to go right in but if I could do it over, I'd wait a bit, lol. Now DD is almost 3 and yells for me as soon as her eyes open.
