When your family/in laws come over to visit the baby-- how long do they stay?
I am talking relatively local family-- within 45 mins to an hour so of traffic.
And just for a regular visit-- nothing special.

MIL will stay probably an hour or so.
FIL and his wife will stay until we kick them out haha, basically a little bit after the baby is asleep.
My parents and brothers depends, they live like 10 min away so they see him very very often. Sometimes its a few hours, sometimes its 20 min.

My mom and MIL watch her while I work so they normally dont come over. We usually see them at their respective houses. We also have a very small house that is not very conducive to entertaining.

My parents live 5 min. away and stop by all the time. sometimes for 1/2 hr sometimes a few hrs.
My FIL and his wife NEVER just stop by-they only come on their day to babysit which is 4 hrs every thursday or whenever we invite them for a meal.
My MIL and her husb. live in Arizona, when they come they obviously spend hrs a day while they r here.
Brothers and sisters nieces and nephews always are popping in for a quick "Makenzie fix"

Re: When your family/in laws come over to visit the baby-- how long do they stay?
My parents watch him M-F but can't stand not seeing him even for just one day so on the weekends they'll stop by for maybe an hour or longer if we need to run errands.
My MIL used to come over for HOURS!!! She lives uptown NYC (and we are on LI) and for some reason decided that it was not possible for her to come early in the day and leave in the evening, she started expecting to be welcome to sleep over. She would basically be over ALL weekend. This got annoying qucikly, especially when i went back to work so now she's only welcome to stay a few hours and then back home she goes, thank goodness!

Hmmm.. we don't really have anyone come over just to visit. Usually it's for a function or something. Like Thanksgiving, etc....
My MIL watches Samantha once a week so she's here all day.
The rare occassions my father just comes for a visit, it's for a couple of hours, because, well.. you know, NJ might as well be on the otherside of the planet and he feels the need to get "in and out" to avoid traffic.....

Re: When your family/in laws come over to visit the baby-- how long do they stay?
My mom and MIL live about an hour and 15 minutes away. When my mom comes she usually gets here on a Wednesday night and stays until lunch on Saturday.
My MIL used to stay for the weekend as well, but since she met someone (my DH's dad passed when he was young) she stays for the day because we aren't comfortable with him sleeping over yet.
They usually come about once every month or 2.
