When your toddlers brush their teeth...
AKA when you shove a toothbrush around your screaming toddlers mouth. Do they rinse afterwards???
I can't see how I can teach my kid to rinse.

Re: When your toddlers brush their teeth...
Small children do not understand the concept of rinsing that is why you do not use toothpaste with fluoride-since we know they will most likely swallow what they brush with they have the training toothpastes. Typically before the age of 5-6 they won't fully get the spit concept even if it seems like they are spitting that is why most toothpaste says not recommended for kids under 6.So don't worry it will happen but it takes awhile!

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. I'm happy when the brush just makes it to her mouth.

Re: When your toddlers brush their teeth...
I use the "training" toothpaste that is safe to be swallowed ---- she does also have adisney princess toothpaste with floride but I only use a tiny bit of it and only every once in a while.
She also drinks water after a dixie cup afterwards, and doesn't spit....but just to wash away the toothpaste.

Re: When your toddlers brush their teeth...
We use the training toothpaste too. DD understands when I tell her to spit (that's her favorite part of course). After she spits a little I give her the wet tooth brush & she rinses that way.

Re: When your toddlers brush their teeth...
Brushing? Whats that? I cant get the toothbrush in at all without a full out tantrum. And when I give it to him, he just sucks the water out of the toothbrush with his front teeth. So I just give up, and end it there.

Re: When your toddlers brush their teeth...
In the last 2 month, I just got Nate to learn the art of spitting. It's a good thing when brushing but unfortunately he's started doing it other times bc he thinks it's funny.

Re: When your toddlers brush their teeth...
Aidan just perfected the rinse and spit and he's 3 1/2 so it takes a while for them to get it.
Like Laura said as long as they are using the non fluoride paste it fine, just keep practicing!

Re: When your toddlers brush their teeth...
still using toddler toothpaste with no flouride so it's safe IF she swallows.
I find the "is there a hippo?" in your mouth trick to work VERY well.....
now when we say it's time to brush teeth she runs around screaming there's a hippo (or some other wild animal) in her mouth.

Re: When your toddlers brush their teeth...
I brush her teeth with the childrens toothpaste and then she spits then I just use water the rest of the time and she spits like 2 more times to make sure its all out.
