Where are my fellow 8/9-'05 mommies???

We are in full blown SEPERATION ANXIETY mode over here and it's driving me bananas! Is anyone else going thru it?? I can NOT put him down for a minute - I can NOT walk away from him even if I'm in seeing and/or hearing distance! He was napping 2-3 hrs straight and now he's waking every 1/2 hr or so crying to see me. Daddy is kaka - the only ones he will be with are his grandma's but I can't see them everyday!Chat Icon How are you dealing with it and how long does it last????????

Is something bothering him? He might have a molar coming in. Ant only gets this way when he is sick or his molar is coming in (which is now).

Don't get me wrong I am his favorite person at this point in time but he will go to others.

Our new thing is he starts screaming as soon as I carry him into his room for bedtime.Chat Icon

Just when you think you have them figured out and set in a schedule they change!

Re: Where are my fellow 8/9-'05 mommies???

Ryan just recently started his seperation anxiety...

He goes to his grandparents fine(Most of the time- others I sneak out) and does visit the children at work- fine...

But other than that- he wants to be with me all the time- esp. @ night...

Its fustrating when Im trying to cook and he is standing at the kitchen gate crying for me...

My only suggestion is distract him and sneak outChat Icon

We've got it but not as bad as you and lucky for me daddy is the light of the world when he walks in the door. Mornings are tough though, it's a good hour or so before I can let her play on her own.
I started going to the YMCA to work out and although she cried at first I think doing that on a regular basis has helped our separation anxiety not get too bad.
Can you try letting him cry for a little bit and walk away and see if he gets distracted with some toys or something? My friend had to do this in order to get anything done and eventually her daughter stopped freaking out every time she put her down. There are times I do the same thing with Miranda and other times I carry her on my hip and do what I can get done one handed. Chat Icon

I know it's frustrating.
What if you started leaving him with DH for an hour or two on the weekends while you run errands, do you think that would help at all?

Danielle are you sure there's nothing bothering him? Maybe teething, or something brewing? I only ask because Cassidy has been the same way since she's sick...waking constantly and only wanting me, when normally she's not like that...

Yes, it's been going on for months now (definitely since the summertime) and I can't wait until this passes.

I feel like I can't get anything done because I feel bad letting her scream. I've been at the point where I have to leave the bathroom door open so she can come in and watch Chat Icon She will play independently, but only if I'm in the room. It's not even like I'm her favorite or anything Chat Icon but she does do it with her daddy too...when he's home...arghhhh...I'm usually dealing with it alone until her bedtime!

THe waking thing sounds like something else is going on though.

Anyway, I'm not dealing with it really, I'm just enduring it! So here's some hugs because I am there too!!

We've been going through it since this summer! It's sooo hard to hear her scream when all I do is leave the room for 30 seconds. I even had a gym membership that I had to cancel b/c she REFUSED to stay in the babysitting room. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon
Hopefully, they'll start outgrowing it. I read that seperation anxiety peaks at 18 months...hang in there!! Chat Icon Chat Icon

OMG - SO funny you say this! The other night I had to go and he was w/ DH and he screamed and sobbed SO hard that he had to bring him down and he sat on my lap until I was done!Chat Icon Chat Icon

Stacy - Today he had REALLY bad gas - more so than I've heard since he's a newborn. Nothing changed in his diet, but it was SO bad and he had some diarreah when DH changed him before. I wonder if he might be getting a stomach bug???

Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon Thanks everyone - I'm glad to know I'm not going it alone. He's always been a momma's boy but it's at a really peak point right now. I do try to get out and leave him for a bit - but it's SO tough when I'm home!
