Where are you planning your party after your Christening? How formal?
Hey!
So... I have been thinking about our baby Carlie's Christening, and I was wondering what everyone was doing...
How formal is the party going to be???
Originally I just wanted a big party in the backyard... but now... I am hearing things of people doing it at like reception halls where weddings are done...
Maybe I was just clueless. lol
What are you ladies doing??? Give me some new ideas!
TIA!

we don't have a yard, but that would've been my first choice. plus you have to worry about temperature, rain, etc. We're baptizing on 9/27.
instead, we booked an american legion hall. We're having all the same food that we would've had if it was in a yard, and the place is big enough that I don't have to worry about fitting anyone, cleaning the bathrooms, etc.
Our biggest problem was our guestlist. We have 100 ppl invited! Big families.

Re: Where are you planning your party after your Christening? How formal?
We are keeping DS's christening very low key. With my DD, we did a big bash in the backyard and it was great, but she was also christened in the summer. DS's christening is 10/25, so we have to worry about it being a little too chilly, so we decided to invite only extremely good friends and family. I think we are at about 25 people. We are going to have the "party" at a restaurant. It may be a little expensive, but with no prep or clean up to worry about, that works for me!!!

I would have loved to have been able to have the christening in our backyard but unfortunately, i don't have a yard :( We're in an Apt building.
So we're probably just going to have our closest family and friends and just do a private room in a restaurant.

Re: Where are you planning your party after your Christening? How formal?
DS had his in the beginning of August. We planned to do it in our backyard, but it rained for part of the day. I had about 30 people in my very tiny house for part of the time and I decided that after that, it's worth it to spend the extra $$$$ and have it at a hall or restaurant.
My SIL is doing this and she is only inviting family to keep costs down.

Well, ours is a long ways away, but I definitely plan on doing something low key in the backyard at my mothers house. I am not into the wedding like christening I think it is totally unnecessary IMO.

I have never gone to a christening at any place other than a backyard or an elks lodge kinda place. We are moving into a co-op complex and will be renting the clubhouse and having it catered. (Only $350 for 4 hours + the cost of the food).

If I could do it in the backyard of DH's parents (we don't have a backyard) I'd prefer it there. However we'll probably have it a local restuarant's private room.

we did DD's christening in our yard with a tent. about 35 people and have ivaronne bring in the food. i wish i had waitress service for clean up/set up/ serving. family helped but it was too much! next one will be in a restaurant!

we are crazy and booked it already. we booked a catering hall, because it was costing the same as a private room in a restaurant, so we figured we might as well.

Re: Where are you planning your party after your Christening? How formal?
I am having the baby 9/30 - being induced - I am Jewish, DH is CAtholic and we are doing a Christening...we are prob. waiting 6 months, so around March b/c we need to save $ and hope that tax $ will help...lol.
We were thinking of doing something in our backyard b/c it is big but that means a tent in case it rains, cooking food or catering it...setting up and cleaning up and then we have a small house and only 1 bathroom...we realized it will be too much to do in the house...especially if it ends up raining...people will drift into the house and we are gunna have like 50-75 people prob, big family...so we are thinking of a VFW or a restaurant...who knows...it is all expensive and overwhelming...

Re: Where are you planning your party after your Christening? How formal?
We will be having our Christening at a place. I am not sure where yet, but I am going to look at restaurants/catering halls as well as VFW/K of C type halls. We can't have it home because there will be just too many people - DH has a very large family. I suspect we are going to have about 75 adults and 20 kids/babies. Plus, we are moving so not even sure if it would be feasible.
