Where can I learn to knit?

I really really want to learn. I've tried teaching myself- but gave up.

I pick things up quickly- but I need someone to show me and explain step by step.

I looked into the classes at Michaels, bu they are all during the day and I work.

Around about where do you live? I know of a store that does classes in Babylon, Sayville, and Stony Brook

Re: Where can I learn to knit?

Check your local library and community centers. I've seen knitting classes listed in some of the flyers that have come to our house in the past.

I learned at Knitworks/Weaveworks in Amityville.

Re: Where can I learn to knit?

I learned the basics from Youtube, and then I joined a knitting group. I find that women at Knitting groups LOVE to teach others what they know. There is a website for an organization called "Stitch and B-I-T-C-H". Their website is www.stitchnbitch.org. Here is a list of the groups they have in NY
http://stitchnbitch.org/New-York/index.html

Hope this helps

Search YouTube . I found some very easy to follow step/step videos on crocheting.

Re: Where can I learn to knit?

Have you tried crochetting? Its much easier to learn than knitting, I recently taught myself. Where do you live? My mom use to own a knitting store and gave lessons....I could ask if she would be willing to help you. Feel free to FM me.

Keep Me in Stitches on Smithtown Blvd across from the new library teaches knitting. They have a couple of different options for learning to knit there.
